• During one of the post-season victory celebration speeches, he mentioned that he was going to thank his wife personally later that evening.
• During the 1993 World Series, Philadelphia mayor Ed Rendell said that he could hit Todd Stottlemyre's pitches. After the series, Stottlemyre told the mayor that he could kiss his (butt).
